Time to grow up – Episode 7

Except for chapter 1 and 2, the first eleven chapters of Genesis record one failure of a man after another, failures that are being repeated today.

• The first man and woman disobeyed God and were cast out of the garden(Chapter 3)
• Cain murdered his brother Abel and lied about it(Chapter 4)
• Humanity become so corrupt that God cleansed the earth with a flood(chapter 6-8)
• Noah got drunk and he exposed himself to his son (chap. 9)
• In their defiance of God, men built a city and tower, and God send confusion to end the rebellion (chap. 10)

After everything that happened in chapter 3 to 10, God did not destroy the world, instead he gave humanity another chance through Abraham and Sarah, Genesis 12.

Everyday is a new day in your life for those who trust in Him. He is giving us a new beginning.

Genesis 12:1-2 “The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation”

Listening to God’s voice means sometimes we also have to sit down and listen.It may help also to consider taking a moment of silence or quite time in your life. You can go alone and spend sometimes listening to God’s voice and reflect about your life.

• Jesus prayed alone,Mathew 12:23,“After he had dismissed them,he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray”
• Mathew 6:6 Jesus is asking us to go our inner room,close the door.
• Abraham at the most important stage of the worship in Genesis 22 he asked everyone to stay behind and went alone with his son. Consider the best moment in your life to leave everyone behind and make a step forward to meet your God.

1. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah.Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Genesis 22
2. In other words God is asking Abraham, take away the only blessings I promised you and your wife. To offer a burnt offering means to loose completely your blessings. Abraham obeyed. Do you know what is God asking you regarding the blessings offered to you?
3. Psalm 24:1, what we have does not belong to us. God bless us so that we can bless others.

• 15The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16and said, “I swear by myself,declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore.Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies,18and through your offspring[b] all nations on earth will be blessed,[c] because you have obeyed me.” Genesis 22:15-18
• Abraham test was a test of character and faith. It was a question of that comes first in your life, he chose God above all.
